Executive summary. The October 30, 2026 JUNIOR universe contains 477 tracked instruments. Only 56 of 471 with valid 200-day moving-average observations remain above MA200 (11.89%), versus 151 of 467 (32.33%) four weeks earlier. The median weekly return is −4.35%, the median 52-week drawdown is −50.00%, and signed-volume participation remains overwhelmingly negative. This is a measurement of severe deterioration, not proof of an imminent bottom.
1. October's breadth collapse
MA200 breadth declined from 32.33% on October 2 to 11.89% on October 30, a decline of approximately 20.44 percentage points in the reported cross-sectional readings. The eligible sample changed from 467 to 471 instruments, so the difference should not be presented as a strictly matched-cohort result. The median distance to MA200 is −24.87%. Almost nine in ten eligible instruments now trade below their long-term trend benchmark.
Bars use a 0–100% scale. Observations have different valid denominators (467 and 471).
2. Widespread weekly losses
From October 23 to October 30, 344 instruments declined, 84 advanced and 49 were unchanged. The cross-sectional median return was −4.35%, versus approximately −0.57% for the S&P 500 over the same interval. Some 213 instruments lost at least 5%, while 92 declined by 10% or more. Only 136 of 477 (28.51%) outperformed the S&P 500.
The median 52-week drawdown deepened from −47.76% to −50.00%. Among the 471 instruments with valid 52-week observations, 235 were more than 50% below their respective highs. This is broad capital impairment across the tracked universe, not an isolated correction in a handful of stocks.
3. Signed volume: demand remains scarce
The median 20-session signed-volume balance is −25.21%, compared with −26.96% one week earlier. Only 76 of 477 instruments (15.93%) show a positive balance. The marginal weekly improvement does not yet establish a sustained recovery in buying participation. Price weakness and negative volume breadth reinforce each other.
4. Is a bottom approaching?
Observation: breadth below 12%, a 50% median drawdown and negative signed-volume participation describe an unusually damaged market structure. Interpretation: such conditions can support sharp countertrend rallies, particularly in small-cap miners. Risk: oversold breadth is not a timing signal and does not establish that a durable bottom has formed.
Confirmation would require sustained expansion in participation above MA200, improving signed-volume breadth and firmer median returns over multiple observations. Individual resilience should not be mistaken for broad recovery.
5. All 56 instruments above MA200 — detailed interactive table
The full list below contains all 56 securities with a valid positive MA200 position, sorted initially by percentage distance above their 200-day average. It includes ticker, company, MA200 distance, weekly return, four-week return and YTD performance. The list includes miners, explorers, producers and royalty businesses as classified in the tracked JUNIOR dataset; it is not a pure-play junior-explorer screen.
A positive MA200 distance describes long-term trend positioning, not necessarily current positive momentum. For example, Precore Gold and Sailfish Royalty remain well above MA200 despite double-digit weekly declines; Japan Gold and Golden Arrow Resources also posted positive weekly returns.
6. Complete JUNIOR ranking — 477 instruments
Search, sort and compare all tracked instruments. Weekly rank, global rank, ticker, company, last close, one-week, four-week, three-month and year-to-date returns are available for every row. Ranking positions are descriptive, not investment recommendations.
7. Methodology, sample and limitations
Data are as of October 30, 2026. The tracked JUNIOR dataset contains 477 instruments; MA200 breadth uses 471 valid observations, and the comparison from October 2 uses 467. Cross-sectional medians, drawdowns and signed-volume measures are descriptive statistics. The universe contains explorers, producers, royalty companies and some ETFs, rather than only early-stage junior explorers. Missing values remain null in the original nine-column public ranking. The full ranking JSON and the 56-security MA200 dataset are publicly accessible. The private workbook and proprietary ranking methods are not published. Read our methodology guide.
Conclusion: severe damage, with a narrow pocket of relative strength
Only 56 of 471 eligible instruments (11.89%) remain above MA200. The universe's median weekly return is −4.35%, median 52-week drawdown is −50%, and only 15.93% show a positive 20-session signed-volume balance. These readings establish broad deterioration, but not the timing of a bottom.
The 56 MA200 survivors are worth monitoring as a distinct group, particularly where positive long-term positioning coincides with improving short-term returns and sustained leadership over several weeks. Nevertheless, some are falling sharply despite remaining above MA200, and a few represent producers or royalty businesses rather than junior explorers. A lasting recovery would require breadth and volume confirmation across the wider universe. Until then, isolated strength is not evidence of a sector-wide reversal.
